Hi, Those files were NOT lost, however. Plugging the hard drive into my Dell Inspiron shows that the folders are still there. So there must have been some kind of a glitch with the HP Pavilion. This is a deal-breaker for me, so I'm returning the HP Pavilion. Interestingly enough, back in May I bought a Dell Inspiron 20-3052 all-in-one desktop, and I had the same problem. Again, a deal-breaker, and I had returned the 20-3052 a few days later. Under these circumstances, my question would have been 'why does my portable hard drive only seem to work in one computer.' But that's not the case; it also works fine on the computer I use at work, which is also a Dell (model number unknown, but it's a desktop). So I guess my actual question is - why does this happen, that on some computers I can't access all of my files? And if I encounter this situation again, is there anything I can do to fix it? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet. References: www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/seagate-2tb-portable-hard-drive/Medical Device Animation
